Where Does Phosh Store Settings on Linux Phones?

Phosh shell settings in GSettings and the Phoc compositor ini and state on Linux phones.

Last updated

Phosh keeps no config folder. Shell options live in GSettings under sm.puri and mobi.phosh schemas with some GNOME desktop keys mixed in. The dconf database file holds them all.

The compositor Phoc is the file-backed part. It reads phoc.ini from the working dir or the system share path, with output states in a separate gvdb file. Back up both halves together.

Where Phosh stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.config/dconf/user

Shell options in GSettings (sm.puri, mobi.phosh schemas) backed by the dconf database. No phosh config folder exists. Compositor reads phoc.ini with output states in the state dir gvdb file.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up Phosh settings?

Dump the sm.puri and mobi.phosh schemas with dconf and copy phoc.ini plus the outputs database. Restoring means loading the dump and putting the files back before logging in. Test calls and mobile data after.

Where is the phosh config folder?

There is none. Phosh reads GSettings backed by the dconf database. Guides pointing at a phosh config folder describe something that does not exist. Only the compositor Phoc uses an ini file.
