Where Does PictureThis Store Plant IDs and Photos?
Where PictureThis keeps plant IDs and photos on Android and iPhone, and what your account holds for backup.
Last updated
PictureThis keeps your garden in your account and your raw photos wherever your camera puts them. Identified plants, care reminders, and history sync on login. Draft snaps and private cache stay on the phone until processed.
That split matters when space runs low. Deleting the app wipes private cache but leaves the cloud garden intact. Android may show a PictureThis folder under Android data for cache on some builds. iPhone keeps it all in the app container. Export care cards you edited heavily, since free and premium histories sometimes differ after plan changes.
Where PictureThis stores this, by platform
/sdcard/Android/data/cn.picturethis.plantid
Garden and history sync to your PictureThis account. Drafts and cache live privately. A shared folder may appear under Android data on some builds, with names varying by version.
On My iPhone/PictureThis
Garden data lives in the PictureThis container under On My iPhone. Sign in to restore history, then redownload offline care guides. Save key photos to the camera roll as backup.
Frequently asked questions
How do I transfer PictureThis to a new phone?
Sign in on the new phone and your garden and history return from the account. Photos still only on the old camera roll need manual copy. Check My Garden first, since anything missing there was never uploaded and lives only in private storage.
Does PictureThis back up my garden automatically?
Yes for your garden and ID history once signed in, since they sync to the account. Snapshots waiting in the camera tab do not sync until identified. Save important photos to the camera roll as well, so a reinstall does not take them with it.
