Where Does Plato Reader Store Books?
Plato e-ink reader storage and USB transfer for sideloaded books.
Last updated
Plato is the minimalist alternative reader often installed on Kobo and Kindle hardware: it reads sideloaded EPUB, CBZ and PDF from device storage in place and keeps positions and settings in its own config. Your folders are the library.
Because it runs beside the stock software, the two libraries ignore each other. Books you push for Plato will not appear in the Kobo or Kindle apps, and their progress never syncs. Organize Plato folders deliberately and back them up over USB like any sideloaded collection.
Where Plato stores this, by platform
On-device Plato library folder (books in place, reachable over USB)
E-ink Linux devices mount as USB storage on a computer. Drop books into the Plato folder tree and rescan in-app. Config and positions live beside the install; copy them with the books.
Frequently asked questions
do Plato books show in the Kobo app
No. Plato maintains its own folders and database apart from the stock reader. The same file can sit in both libraries only by duplicating it into each tree.
how do I back up Plato reading progress
Copy the Plato config and database files off the device over USB along with the books. Restoring means putting the same tree back before launching Plato again.
