Where Does PocketSmith Store Financial Data?

PocketSmith account synced transactions, forecasts and bank feeds.

Last updated

PocketSmith keeps transactions, categorizations, budgets, forecasts and bank feed connections on the account in its cloud. The apps and web dashboards are windows onto that ledger with offline tolerant caching.

Bank feeds refresh on provider schedules, not instantly, so missing transactions usually mean a pending sync rather than lost data. CSV imports fill gaps the feeds cannot reach. Cancelling keeps read access for a window; export statements and budgets before closing for a permanent archive.

Where PocketSmith stores this, by platform

Android
Account cloud (ledger and feeds; app holds synced cache)

Budgets and 30 year forecasts compute server side. Reinstalling restores everything on login. Upload CSVs from bank portals for accounts without feeds.

iOS
Account cloud (same synced ledger on iPhone and iPad)

Same model with offline tolerant views. Deleting the app drops cache only. Reconnect bank feeds once after credential changes at the bank.

Frequently asked questions

why are recent transactions missing in PocketSmith

The bank feed has not refreshed yet or needs reauthorization. Check feed status in settings, reconnect if prompted, and wait a sync cycle. Manual CSV import covers urgent gaps.

how do I leave PocketSmith with my data

Export transactions, budgets and reports to CSV before cancelling. The account holds the canonical history; local apps keep no permanent copy worth archiving.
