Where Does Powkiddy Store ROMs and Saves?

Powkiddy devices with ArkOS keep ROMs in /roms or EASYROMS partition with BIOS files in bios folder.

Last updated

Powkiddy handhelds running ArkOS organize the SD card around a ROMs partition. Game files sort into per-system folders inside /roms, exposed as EASYROMS over a card reader. BIOS files go in the bios folder beside them.

ArkOS supports one-card and two-card setups. Single-card keeps everything together. Dual-card puts the system on the first card and games on the second. Saves follow the ROMs, so one partition copy preserves progress and library alike.

Where Powkiddy stores this, by platform

Linux
/roms/<system> and /roms/bios (EASYROMS partition on SD)

Per-system ROM folders plus bios folder on the EASYROMS partition. Dual-card setups put games on the second card. Copy the partition with the device off.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up a Powkiddy SD card?

Back up the EASYROMS partition from the SD card to your PC. That covers ROMs, BIOS and saves together. Do it before flashing new firmware, since imaging wipes the card.

Should I keep the included SD card?

Throw away the bundled card and use a branded one. The stock cards corrupt saves. Copy any BIOS files off first, since those are harder to replace than ROMs.
