Where Does pueue Store Queue Data and Config?

pueue keeps its daemon queue, logs, and config in standard per-OS data folders. Paths plus the XDG overrides are inside.

Last updated

pueue splits runtime from config like a good daemon. The queue database, task logs, and socket state live in the OS data directory, while pueue.yml settings sit in the config directory. Both follow XDG conventions on Unix.

Back up the data dir to preserve history across machines, and copy the config to standardize daemon ports. Never copy a live database while the daemon runs; stop it first or the copy can tear.

Where pueue stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.local/share/pueue

Queue database, task logs, and socket state. Config at ~/.config/pueue/pueue.yml. Stop the daemon before copying or deleting the data dir.

macOS
~/.local/share/pueue

Same XDG-style split as Linux. Homebrew installs share these paths, so the daemon state survives reinstalls of the binary.

Windows
%APPDATA%\pueue

Same role under Roaming AppData. Config lives in a pueue subfolder nearby; confirm exact names with the built-in help if a release renames them.

Frequently asked questions

How do I wipe the pueue task history?

Stop the daemon first, then delete the data directory for your OS. Task history and logs go with it; the config file can stay or be removed separately.

Where is the pueue config file?

Edit pueue.yml in the config folder (same per-OS roots, config subfolder). Restart the daemon afterwards so the new addresses and ports take effect.
