Where Does Qmmp Store Settings and Skins?

Where Qmmp keeps qmmprc, skins, playlists and plugin settings.

Last updated

Qmmp keeps its world in a qmmp folder under the config home: qmmprc for options plus children for skins, playlists and plugin state. The Winamp familiar UI reads everything from that one tree.

Portable builds use a config child beside the exe instead. Keep plugin versions matched across machines or restored settings reference missing pieces. Close the player before hand edits.

Where Qmmp stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.config/qmmp/qmmprc

Main config file with skins and playlists beside it. Portable builds use a config folder next to the exe. Match plugins across machines before restoring.

Windows
%APPDATA%\qmmp\qmmprc

Same qmmp tree under Roaming AppData. Skins and plugin state travel with the folder copy. Close Qmmp before editing or restoring.

Frequently asked questions

How do I reset Qmmp settings?

Delete qmmprc while Qmmp is closed. Defaults regenerate on next launch, clearing wedged outputs and plugin states faster than toggling each page.

How do I migrate Qmmp?

Copy the qmmp config folder to the new machine with matching plugin sets installed. Skins ride in their own child folder and travel with the same copy.
