Where Does Radarr Store Its Data?

Radarr keeps its database, settings and logs in an AppData directory that moves with the OS and install type.

Last updated

Radarr follows the Servarr family layout exactly. The database tracks every movie and download, config.xml holds ports and paths, and logs rotate beside them. Sonarr users will feel at home instantly.

Windows installs land in ProgramData while Linux follows the service account or the running user's config home. The app prints its live directories under System and Info, which settles version differences faster than any guide. Backups mean the database plus config with the service stopped.

Where Radarr stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\ProgramData\Radarr

radarr.db is the database, config.xml holds ports and paths. Back both up with the service stopped. The -data= argument overrides this location.

Linux
/var/lib/Radarr

Manual installs use ~/.config/Radarr of the running user, package installs a service path like /var/lib/Radarr. Check System and Info for the live path.

Frequently asked questions

How do I migrate Radarr to a new machine?

Stop Radarr, copy radarr.db plus config.xml to the same path on the new box, then start it. Library, history, and indexers return together. Logs stay behind without consequence.

Can I run separate 4K and HD instances?

Each instance needs its own data directory via -data= with a unique port in its config.xml. Shared databases corrupt, so 4K and standard libraries must never point at one folder.
