Where Does Raven Reader Store Feeds and Settings?
Raven Reader keeps feeds and encrypted credentials in its standard Electron data folder, with OPML for moving.
Last updated
Raven Reader is an Electron app that needs no login, so everything lives on your disk in the standard per-OS user data folder. Configuration and credentials sit there encrypted with AES-256. No account means nothing follows you unless you move it.
Moving machines has two tiers. Export feeds to OPML for the subscription list, which imports anywhere. The full Electron folder carries read states and settings too, but treat the exact folder name as version specific and prefer OPML for the important part.
Where Raven Reader stores this, by platform
%APPDATA%\Raven Reader
Standard Electron user-data location holding config and encrypted credentials. Exact folder naming can shift between the classic and rewritten builds, so export OPML from inside the app for the portable copy.
~/Library/Application Support/Raven Reader
Same Electron layout as Windows. Cloud sync through Feedbin or Inoreader keeps articles server side, leaving this folder for settings and cache only.
~/.config/Raven Reader
XDG equivalent of the same folder, covering Snap and Homebrew installs with their own container paths. Check the running version, since the classic build is unmaintained and a rewrite is underway.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move Raven Reader feeds to a new computer?
Export OPML from inside Raven and import it on the new machine. That carries every subscription. Pair it with the same cloud reader login for read states, since local state does not transfer through OPML.
Is Raven Reader still maintained?
The classic Electron build is no longer maintained while a rewrite is in progress. It keeps working for local RSS and cloud sync. Export OPML periodically so a future migration costs minutes.
