Where Does RuneLite Store Settings and Profiles?
RuneLite keeps settings, profiles, and cache in a .runelite folder in your home directory. Screenshots sit beside it.
Last updated
RuneLite stores everything in one home directory folder: client settings, plugin configurations, account profiles, cache, and screenshots in subfolders. No registry, no AppData scattering. The folder is the client.
That simplicity makes migrations trivial: copy the folder and launch. Plugin hub entries resolve against stored configs, so a moved folder behaves identically. Keep the folder out of cloud synced trees that mangle open databases, and back it up before beta channel experiments.
Where RuneLite stores this, by platform
C:\Users\[Username]\.runelite
Settings, profiles, cache, and screenshots in subfolders here. Copy whole for migrations. Clear only the cache subfolder for graphics issues.
~/.runelite
Same home folder layout as other platforms. Plugin configs travel with the folder across machines.
~/.runelite
Identical to macOS. Keep cloud sync tools away from the live folder to avoid database locks.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move RuneLite to a new computer?
Copy the whole folder to the new machine before first launch there. Profiles, plugin configs, and login settings travel together. Screenshots ride along in their subfolder.
The client shows broken graphics. What helps?
Delete the cache subfolder with the client closed to force a fresh download. Corrupted cache shows as missing models or black screens. Settings survive cache clears untouched.
