Where Does Samsung Health Store Data?

Samsung Health keeps activity in app storage with Samsung Cloud sync. Export routes and backup steps for Android.

Last updated

Samsung Health stores workouts, steps, sleep and food logs in private app storage on the phone. Signing in syncs that library to Samsung Cloud, which is what carries history to a new phone. Without an account, everything sits device only.

There is no workouts folder to copy. Moving data means syncing first, then verifying on the new device before wiping the old one. Per-workout GPX export exists for runs and rides when you need files for another platform. Smart Switch moves the library between Samsung phones directly.

Package com.sec.android.app.shealth. No user folder holds workouts. Enable sync in Settings, or export single workouts as GPX. Smart Switch carries the library phone to phone without manual files.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move Samsung Health to a new phone?

Sign in to the same Samsung account and let sync finish on the old phone, then sign in on the new one and wait for the merge. Smart Switch between Samsung phones moves the same library. Confirm totals match before wiping the old device.

Can I export Samsung Health workouts as files?

Per workout, yes for GPS sessions: open the workout and share it out as GPX. Bulk history exports go through Settings, Download personal data. Raw database files in app storage are not meant to be copied by hand.

Does Samsung Health work without an account?

Yes for recording, no for safety. Unsynced data lives only on that phone and dies with a factory reset. Signing in later syncs forward but cannot recover anything already wiped, so enable it before you need it.
