Where Are Scarlet Nexus Save Files Located?

Where Scarlet Nexus splits saves and config across two folders on PC, and which one to back up.

Last updated

Scarlet Nexus keeps saves and settings in two different trees. Progress (.sav files per user ID) sits under %LOCALAPPDATA%\BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment\SCARLET NEXUS\Saved\SaveGames, while graphics config sits under %LOCALAPPDATA%\ScarletNexus\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor.

That split confuses backup attempts that grab only one folder. Saves without config load fine with default graphics; config without saves is an empty shell. Copy both trees with the game closed and the whole state moves.

Where Scarlet Nexus stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment\SCARLET NEXUS\Saved\SaveGames

SYSTEM.sav, NORMAL.sav, and AUTO.sav per numeric user folder. Paste the BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment path into Explorer. GOG and Steam builds share this tree; cloud copies sit in Steam userdata as fallback.

Linux
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/775500/pfx/.../SCARLET NEXUS/Saved/SaveGames

Same saves tree inside the Proton prefix for app 775500, with config under the matching ScarletNexus prefix path. Copy both trees across for a complete move. Recent timestamps mark the live user folder.

Frequently asked questions

how do i back up scarlet nexus saves

Copy %LOCALAPPDATA%\BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment\SCARLET NEXUS\Saved\SaveGames to the same path with the game closed, keeping the numeric user folder. The .sav files (SYSTEM, NORMAL, AUTO) travel together. Steam Cloud mirrors them when enabled, but the copy is certain.

why are there two scarlet nexus folders

Saves live under the BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment tree while graphics config lives under a separate ScarletNexus tree. Back up the first for progress and the second for settings. Deleting only the config folder resets graphics without touching a single save.

where is the scarlet nexus config file

In %LOCALAPPDATA%\ScarletNexus\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor as GameUserSettings.ini and Engine.ini. Edit while the game is closed. This folder holds no saves, so it is safe to delete for a graphics reset.
