Where Are Slitterhead Save Files Located?

Slitterhead saves per Steam ID under a YKS folder in LocalAppData, the project's internal codename.

Last updated

Slitterhead stores saves under a folder named YKS, its internal project codename. Inside sit the usual Unreal Engine 5 files: SaveGames split by Steam user ID, Config beside them.

The per-ID nesting means shared PCs keep separate progress cleanly, one subfolder per account. It also means copying saves between accounts is a folder rename away. Grab the whole YKS tree for a complete backup; Steam Cloud mirrors the saves regardless.

Where Slitterhead stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\YKS\Saved\SaveGames\Steam\[SteamID]

Progress split by Steam user ID in .sav files. Copy the whole YKS folder with the game closed for a full backup.

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\YKS\Saved\Config\Windows

Graphics and engine settings (Windows folder). Useful for tweaks and resets without touching progress.

Linux
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/2631250/pfx/

Proton prefix for the Windows build (AppID 2631250). The YKS tree appears inside the prefix's virtual LocalAppData.

Frequently asked questions

What is YKS and why is my save inside it?

That folder is the internal project name on disk. YKS paths are Slitterhead saves and settings; back them up like any Unreal game.
