Where Does Solus Store Packages and Manager Config?
Solus caches eopkg packages in /var/cache/eopkg with manager settings in /etc/eopkg, and keeps package history viewable through eopkg history.
Last updated
Solus uses its own package manager, eopkg, so none of the apt or pacman paths apply. Downloads stage in /var/cache/eopkg before installing. Manager configuration sits in /etc/eopkg.
History is the Solus answer to rollbacks. Every transaction is recorded and reversible with eopkg history commands. It covers packages only, not config files you edited by hand, so keep your own backups of anything in /etc you customized.
Where Solus stores this, by platform
/var/cache/eopkg
Downloaded packages waiting here after installs. Empty with sudo eopkg delete-cache. Modest by default but worth checking on small root partitions.
/etc/eopkg/eopkg.conf
Repository and manager settings. Edit here to change mirrors or manager behavior. List repos with eopkg list-repo to cross check.
Frequently asked questions
How do I clean the eopkg cache on Solus?
Run sudo eopkg delete-cache to empty it, or check du -sh /var/cache/eopkg first. Cached packages only speed up reinstalls, so deleting them just costs download time later. Broken partial downloads clear the same way.
How do I undo an update on Solus?
Run eopkg history to list past transactions with numbers, then sudo eopkg history -U <number> to roll one back. History lives in the eopkg database rather than a snapshot folder, so it cannot rescue an unbootable system the way Snapper can.
