Where Does Special K Store Game Profiles?

Special K files per game HDR and tweak profiles in a Profiles tree whose root moves with the install type.

Last updated

Special K organizes by game first and install second. Each game's tweaks, HDR settings, and keybindings live in a named folder under Profiles, as SpecialK.ini or DLL named INIs.

Install flavors move the tree: modern user installs, modern all users installs, legacy Documents installs, and per game local injections each root differently. The official wiki tables every combination, which tells you how often people lose profiles to reinstalls. Identify the install type before hunting.

Where Special K stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Special K\Profiles

Per game folders with SpecialK.ini live here for global installs. Local injections keep INIs beside the game exe unless centralized.

Frequently asked questions

How do I migrate game profiles?

Copy the game named folder under Profiles to the new root. Local installs additionally need the central marker or configs stay game local. Version match matters: old profiles on new builds misbehave.

Global or local injection?

Global covers every launched game from one Profiles tree, convenient for HDR everywhere. Local installs pin one game with its own DLL and INI. Centralized profiles blend both: local DLLs reading the global tree.
