Where Does Thunderstore Mod Manager Store Profiles?

Thunderstore Mod Manager stages per-game profiles under DataFolder in %APPDATA%, with r2modman using r2modmanPlus-local the same way.

Last updated

Thunderstore Mod Manager and r2modman organize mods by profile, and each profile is a self-contained folder. Mods, configs, and the BepInEx or MelonLoader scaffolding for that game all nest under the profile. Switching profiles swaps the entire mod set at once.

The two managers share the design and the layout, differing mainly in branding and data-folder names. Profiles reference the game install rather than copying it, so moving the game breaks every profile until paths update. Export profile codes before major reshuffles as cheap insurance.

Where Thunderstore stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\Thunderstore Mod Manager\DataFolder\[Game]\profiles

One folder per profile with mods, configs, and loader files inside. Export profile codes to share setups as text. The data root is movable from profile settings.

Windows
%APPDATA%\r2modmanPlus-local\[Game]\profiles

The r2modman equivalent: same profile-per-folder design. The managers read each other's layouts poorly, so pick one per game and stick with it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move a modded profile to another PC?

Copy the profile folder to the same relative spot on the new machine. Profiles carry mods, versions, disabled flags, and configs together. Profile codes export the same set as shareable text when a full copy is overkill.

Can I store profiles on another drive?

Use Settings inside the profile to change its data directory. Moving the folder by hand without updating the pointer orphans it; a symlink works when the UI option is missing.
