Where Does SQLiteStudio Store Settings?

SQLiteStudio stores config as a settings database under the user profile per OS. Portable copies keep it next to the exe.

Last updated

SQLiteStudio saves its configuration in a settings database, not a text file. Installed copies put it in the user profile, with the exact folder depending on the OS. Portable Windows copies keep it beside the executable instead, so the stick carries your setup.

The Windows location has shifted over releases, and old docs cite Roaming while newer installs use Local. If the path below is empty on your machine, check the sibling profile folder. The file is named settings3 in both. It also holds your SQL history.

Where SQLiteStudio stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\SalSoft\SQLiteStudio\settings3

Installed Windows location in recent versions. Older docs cite Roaming instead of Local, so check both. Portable builds store it next to SQLiteStudio.exe.

macOS
/Users/<username>/.config/sqlitestudio/settings3

macOS config plus a preferences plist beside it. Delete or rename settings to reset without reinstalling.

Linux
/home/<username>/.config/sqlitestudio/settings3

Linux config under the XDG config home. The file is itself a SQLite database holding registered databases and history.

Frequently asked questions

SQLiteStudio will not start after a crash. What now?

Rename the config file and restart. SQLiteStudio starts fresh, and you can open the renamed file as a database to salvage queries. The config is SQLite itself.

How do I move my setup to a new computer?

Copy the config folder to the same location on the new machine with the app closed. Your registered databases and SQL history come along with it.
