Where Does SSEEdit Store Backups and Cache?

SSEEdit keeps automatic backups and cache folders beside itself, with sessions in the app dir.

Last updated

SSEEdit writes automatic backups of every plugin it touches into a Backups folder beside its own executable. A Cache folder beside that holds session data for faster loads.

Those folders are the safety net for the whole modding workflow. Cleaning scripts, filter runs, and error checks all keep originals one folder away. Back up the Backups folder before big sessions; it is small compared to the load order it protects.

Where SSEEdit stores this, by platform

Windows
<SSEEditDir>\SSEEdit Backups

Automatic per-plugin backups beside the SSEEdit executable. Copy plugins back into the game Data folder to undo automated edits.

Windows
<SSEEditDir>\SSEEdit Cache

Session cache beside the executable. Deleting it only slows the next load; backups are the folder that matters.

Frequently asked questions

An automated edit broke my plugin. How do I undo it?

Open the SSEEdit Backups folder next to the executable and copy the plugin back into the game Data folder. Every automated edit creates one, so pick the newest pre-edit copy.
