Where Are Steins;Gate Save Files Located?

Where Steins Gate keeps its single save data file on PC, and why the language folders matter for slots.

Last updated

Steins Gate packs every slot into a single data file per language folder. Manual saves and quicksaves share that one file rather than scattering across numbered files. A config file sits beside it for options.

Steam builds nest language folders under a store specific parent in Documents. Older non Steam builds use a Roaming path from a previous engine instead. There is no native Mac or Linux port, so Proton prefixes mirror the Documents tree elsewhere. Phone trigger flags and CG unlocks pack into the same data file.

Single data file per language folder holding all manual and quick slots. Config sits beside it. Older non Steam builds use a Roaming Nitroplus path instead.

Frequently asked questions

Which Steins Gate file holds my eighty manual slots?

Dozens of manual and quick slots pack into one data file per language folder. Copy the whole language directory rather than hunting slot files that do not exist. The config file beside it carries display and audio choices.

How do I fully restart Steins Gate on Steam?

Disable Steam Cloud, delete the game folder for your language, then launch to generate fresh files. Cloud restores deleted progress otherwise, so keep it off until the new game writes once. Non Steam builds use a separate Roaming path instead.
