Where Does Streama Store Config and Media?
Streama reads application.yml for regex and server options. Upload and local-media dirs are set in the web UI on first run.
Last updated
Streama splits config three ways. The application.yml file holds server options and custom file-matching regexes. The first-run settings page asks for the video upload directory, the TMDb API key, and an optional base URL, validated on save. The database behind it all holds users, shows, and watch progress.
Uploads versus local files is the operational choice. Uploaded videos land in the configured directory; the local-file feature instead indexes an existing media tree through symlinks with bulk-create. Back up the YAML, the upload dir, and the database together. One without the others restores a library of dead links or an empty shell.

application.yml (Streama root)
Server options plus custom movie/show match regexes. Upload and local-media dirs are chosen in first-run settings, not here. Back the file with the upload dir and database as one unit.
Frequently asked questions
how do i back up streama
Copy application.yml plus the upload directory and the database with the app stopped. Users, watch states, and TMDb keys span all three. Restore to identical paths or revalidate dirs in the settings page.
how do i customize streama file matching
Append a streama: regex: block to application.yml with movie/show patterns, matching the documented format. The UI exposes the common settings; regex stays file-only. Restart after editing.
