Where Does strfry Store Config and Events?

strfry relay keeps its config in strfry.conf and events in an LMDB database folder, both wherever you deploy them.

Last updated

strfry splits config from state. strfry.conf (found via config flag, STRFRY_CONFIG, /etc/strfry.conf, or ./strfry.conf) holds the db path plus relay metadata. The db folder holds the LMDB data.mdb with every accepted event.

Docker setups typically bind ./data and ./strfry.conf into the container. Back up both halves together; config without database is an empty relay, database without config forgets its own limits.

Where strfry stores this, by platform

Linux
./strfry-db (strfry LMDB folder, user-chosen)

strfry.conf (search order above) plus LMDB db folder. Docker binds usually map ./data and the conf file. Export to JSONL before version upgrades.

Frequently asked questions

How do I migrate a strfry relay?

Copy strfry.conf plus the database folder to the new host with matching paths (or updated db setting), then restart. Export/import via JSONL for version upgrades.

How do I reclaim disk from a strfry database?

Stop the relay, run strfry compact to reclaim space, then restart. Compaction needs free disk for the rewritten copy, so check space first.
