Where Does the TickTick Desktop App Store Its Data?

TickTick Electron data folders on Windows and macOS, what is local cache versus cloud truth, and safe cleanup.

Last updated

The TickTick desktop app follows Electron conventions, keeping its offline cache and settings in the platform userData folder under its own name. That local copy is what lets lists and calendars open with no connection.

Your tasks themselves live in TickTick cloud, so the local folder is a cache, not the archive. Clearing it signs you out and re-syncs from scratch, which fixes most stuck sync and badge states. Nothing created online is lost as long as it synced at least once.

Where TickTick stores this, by platform

Windows
%appdata%\TickTick

Offline cache plus settings in one tree. Deleting it with the app closed forces a clean re-sync, which resolves most stuck lists and phantom badge counts.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/TickTick

Same role as Windows. Use Go to Folder in Finder, and quit TickTick fully before clearing anything.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to delete the TickTick data folder?

Yes, with one condition. Anything that synced to the cloud comes back on next login. Tasks created offline that never synced are lost, so let the app finish syncing before you clear it.

Does TickTick keep local backups of my tasks?

No local backups exist. The folder holds a working cache, not an archive. Use TickTick settings backup options if you want a restorable copy of your lists.
