Where Does the Routine Desktop App Store Data?
Routine keeps its desktop cache in the Electron userData folder, while tasks and notes sync from the cloud.
Last updated
Routine runs from the cloud, and the desktop app mirrors it locally for speed. Cache, window state and login session sit on disk; your tasks do not.
The folder follows the Electron convention per OS. Clearing it with the app closed logs you out and re-syncs clean, which fixes most stuck states. If the folder name differs by build, sort the parent by date after launching.
Where Routine stores this, by platform
%APPDATA%\Routine
Cache plus settings in one tree. Quit from the tray first. Everything returns on next sign in with synced data intact.
~/Library/Application Support/Routine
Same layout. Finder Go to Folder jumps straight there. A reset clears stuck sync without touching cloud tasks.
Frequently asked questions
is it safe to delete the routine data folder
Yes, once Routine is quit and synced. Tasks and notes download again on login. Only offline edits that never synced are at risk.
does routine keep local backups
No. The folder is a working cache, not an archive. Keep important work safe in the synced account rather than on disk.
