Where Does Tilix Store Settings and Profiles?

Tilix keeps settings in dconf, not a config file. The key path plus the dump commands for backup.

Last updated

Tilix stores preferences and profiles in dconf under /com/gexperts/Tilix, not in a text file. The Preferences GUI edits those keys directly. Only bookmarks and custom themes sit as files in ~/.config/tilix.

Back up with dconf dump /com/gexperts/Tilix/ to a file and restore with dconf load on the new machine. Reset a single profile with dconf reset on its path. The physical database lives at ~/.config/dconf/user, but always go through the dconf tool rather than copying it.

Where Tilix stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.config/dconf/user

Binary dconf database holding /com/gexperts/Tilix keys. Never copy it raw; use dconf dump and load. Bookmarks and themes live separately in ~/.config/tilix.
