Where Does todoman Store Config and Tasks?
todoman reads lists from ~/.config/todoman with tasks as .ics files in the configured vdir folders.
Last updated
todoman configures from a Python config file under .config/todoman in your home directory. The file names task lists and points each at a vdir folder of .ics files. Sync tools like vdirsyncer fill those folders from CalDAV servers.
Tasks themselves are plain iCalendar files, one per todo. Editing the config needs valid Python since it executes on load. Keep lists per context and let the formatter handle display.
Where todoman stores this, by platform
~/.config/todoman/todoman.conf.py
Python config naming lists and vdir paths. Task .ics files live in the listed folders. Validate by running todo list after edits.
Frequently asked questions
Where are my actual todos?
As .ics files in the vdir folders named by todoman.conf.py, synced from CalDAV by vdirsyncer. Back up those folders with the config. The app never hides tasks elsewhere.
Why does todoman fail after editing config?
The config executes as Python, so syntax errors break startup. Check indentation and quotes first. Restore from backup and re apply changes slowly.
