Where Does Topaz Video AI Store Models and Presets?

Topaz Video AI stores downloaded models and custom presets under ProgramData on Windows and inside the app bundle on Mac.

Last updated

Topaz Video AI splits bulk from config. Multi-gigabyte model files (.tz) plus user presets sit in a Topaz Video AI folder: ProgramData on Windows, inside the app bundle Resources on Mac. Tiny metadata files (.json, tvai.tz, auth.tz) must stay in the original directory even when models move.

Both the model directory and the workspaces folder for previews and .tvai projects are changeable in Preferences under Directories. Never rename the defaults by hand; repoint them from inside the app instead.

models and presets subfolders. TVAI_MODEL_DIR and TVAI_MODEL_DATA_DIR env vars override locations. Archive this whole tree to migrate without re-downloading gigabytes.

macOS
/Applications/Topaz Video AI.app/Contents/Resources

Models and presets inside the bundle Resources. Check Preferences, then Directories, then Resource folder for the live path, since major versions relocate storage.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move Topaz Video AI models to a new PC without re-downloading?

Copy the whole Topaz Video AI folder to matching storage on the new PC, then point the installer or preferences at it. Keep the small .json, tvai.tz, and auth.tz files in the original spot.

Where are my custom Topaz Video AI presets?

Open File, then Preferences, then Directories and read the Resource folder path; step one level up for presets. Version 6 moved preset storage, so old forum paths may mislead.
