Where Are Trepang2 Save Files Located?
Trepang2 saves under a CPPFPS folder in LocalAppData, a leftover of the project's prototype codename.
Last updated
Trepang2 hides its saves under a folder named CPPFPS, the prototype codename from development. The layout underneath is standard Unreal Engine 4: SaveGames for progress, Config for settings.
Search for the game's title and you find nothing, which is exactly why this post exists. Copy the SaveGames folder for backup and leave the Config tree for graphics tweaks. Steam Cloud mirrors the saves, and the Proton path below is where Linux players find the same tree.
Where Trepang2 stores this, by platform
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CPPFPS\Saved\SaveGames
Campaign progress and checkpoints. Search for CPPFPS, not the game title. Steam Cloud syncs this folder across machines.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CPPFPS\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
Graphics and keybinds (WindowsNoEditor). Handy for FOV tweaks and settings resets without touching progress.
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1164940/pfx/
Proton prefix for the Windows build (AppID 1164940). The CPPFPS tree appears inside the prefix's virtual LocalAppData.
Frequently asked questions
Why is everything called CPPFPS?
That is the prototype codename surviving in the file layout. CPPFPS folders are Trepang2 data; nothing else on your system uses the name.
