Where Does Trojitá Store Mail and Settings on Linux?
Trojitá keeps settings in ~/.config/trojita, with mail living on the IMAP server, not locally.
Last updated
Trojitá is a thin IMAP client by design. Accounts, identities, and passwords (or wallet references) live in ~/.config/trojita. Message bodies stay on the server and stream on demand, so the local footprint stays small. Search and threading run against the live mailbox, which keeps even huge archives quick without a local index.
Offline cache covers what you explicitly opened. Reinstalls need only the config folder plus credentials. Keep a note of server names and ports, since autodiscovery varies by provider.
Where Trojitá stores this, by platform
~/.config/trojita
trojita.conf plus per account state. Copy with Trojitá closed. Passwords may reference KWallet instead of sitting in the file.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move Trojitá to a new machine?
Copy ~/.config/trojita over and reconnect each account. Mail resyncs from IMAP. Re-enter passwords if they lived in the old wallet.
Does Trojitá keep offline mail?
Only a small cache of viewed messages. It is not an archival client. Use an offlineimap style tool beside it if you need full local mirrors.
