Where Does the Twitch App Store Data?
The Twitch viewer app keeps follows and VOD cache in private storage. Twitch Studio is separate software.
Last updated
Twitch splits watching and broadcasting into separate products. The viewer app runs the classic tv.twitch string on Android with a short tv.twitch iOS twin. Private storage holds login session plus stream cache. Clip drafts sync where signed in, so reinstalls lose little beyond cached thumbnails.
Follows, subs and drops live server side. VOD downloads, where offered, re fetch from the channel. Fresh login restores everything watchable after reinstall. Do not copy the private dir between devices; session tokens invalidate and the app logs you out on mismatch.
Where Twitch stores this, by platform
/data/data/tv.twitch.android.app
Private session and stream cache for the classic viewer package. Studio broadcast software keeps entirely separate data.
/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/<guid>/Documents
GUID container for the tv.twitch bundle (App Store ID 460177396). Note the string differs from Android.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as Twitch Studio?
Install the viewer build for watching. Twitch Studio is desktop broadcast software with its own data post on this site. Same login works in both; they share no local files.
Do Twitch follows transfer phones?
Log into the same Twitch account on the new phone. Follows and subscriptions sync from servers. Local data holds session and stream cache only. Fresh login restores the full list. Cache rebuilds as streams load.
