Where Are Undertale Save Files Located?
Undertale stores its saves and settings in an UNDERTALE folder under AppData Local, with two extra files tracking your sins.
Last updated
Undertale keeps things small and local. Two save files cover the slots, one .ini holds settings, and the whole set fits in a single AppData folder most players never open.
The famous part is what else lives there. Two system_information files record whether you ever finished the darker routes, and the game checks them even after the visible saves are gone. A true fresh start means deleting those too, which the game treats as the serious decision it is.

%LOCALAPPDATA%\UNDERTALE
file0 and file9 are the save slots, undertale.ini holds settings. The system_information files beside them remember finished runs.
Frequently asked questions
How do I fully erase a completed run?
Delete file0 and file9, then also remove system_information_962 and system_information_963 from the same folder. Those two remember completed runs across save deletions, and Steam Cloud can restore them, so disable that first.
Can I move my save to another PC?
Yes. Copy file0, file9, and undertale.ini to the same folder on the new machine. The game reads them on launch with no import step and no launcher involved.
