Where Does VidCoder Store Settings on Windows?

VidCoder settings database, encode logs and portable mode paths on Windows.

Last updated

VidCoder keeps almost everything in a single SQLite database. Settings, queue, picker state and custom presets all live in VidCoder.sqlite. Per-encode logs sit in a Logs subfolder beside it.

Portable mode changes the root. When the database sits next to the exe, the app uses it there. Otherwise it falls back to Roaming. Beta builds use a VidCoder-Beta folder with the same layout.

Where VidCoder stores this, by platform

Windows
%AppData%\VidCoder\VidCoder.sqlite

SQLite database holding settings, queue and custom presets. Logs sit in a Logs subfolder. Beta uses VidCoder-Beta instead. Portable keeps the file beside the exe, falling back to Roaming when unwritable. Install dir is under LocalAppData.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up VidCoder?

Close VidCoder and copy VidCoder.sqlite elsewhere. That one file holds settings, queue and custom presets. Logs are optional. Restoring means replacing the file before launch.

Where are custom presets kept?

Presets live as rows inside VidCoder.sqlite, not as separate files. Copying the Logs folder alone saves nothing. Grab the database file itself.
