Where Does Vivaldi Store Your Profile?
Vivaldi profile and User Data paths on Windows, macOS and Linux, including where bookmarks, passwords and sessions live.
Last updated
Vivaldi is Chromium based, so its profile layout mirrors Chrome and Brave. Bookmarks, passwords, extensions, sessions and history sit inside a User Data folder with a Default subfolder for the first profile. Extra profiles get numbered folders beside it.
The fastest way to confirm the active path is inside Vivaldi itself. Open vivaldi://about and read the Profile Path row. Close the browser before copying anything, since the databases stay locked while it runs. Sync passphrase users should keep their recovery key apart from this backup.
Where Vivaldi stores this, by platform
%localappdata%\Vivaldi\User Data\Default
Paste into the Explorer address bar. Bookmarks live in a file called Bookmarks, logins in Login Data. Copy the whole Default folder to move everything at once.
~/Library/Application Support/Vivaldi/Default
Use Go > Go to Folder in Finder since Library is hidden. Additional profiles sit in Profile 1, Profile 2 and similar folders next to Default.
~/.config/vivaldi/Default
Same Chromium layout as Windows. Snap installs use ~/snap/vivaldi/common/.config/vivaldi instead because of sandboxing.
Frequently asked questions
Where are Vivaldi bookmarks stored?
In a JSON file called Bookmarks inside the Default profile folder. With Vivaldi closed, copy that single file to restore bookmarks, or copy the whole Default folder to restore extensions and sessions too.
How do I move Vivaldi to a new computer?
Install Vivaldi on the new machine, close it, then replace its fresh Default folder with your backup. Launch once and confirm passwords and extensions appear before deleting the old copy.
