Where Does the VRR App Store Tickets?

The current VRR app keeps tickets in private storage under its Mentz package, replacing the old MDV build.

Last updated

The Rhein-Ruhr network switched vendors from MDV to Mentz, and the app branding moved with it. Current installs use the Mentz package tied to eezy.nrw ticketing, while old Bus and Bahn builds used an MDV companion ID from the earlier period. Private storage on the phone holds timetable cache and session for whichever build is installed.

Tickets bind to the account rather than to copied files, so the old data never migrates on its own. On a new phone, install the current VRR app directly and log in, then re download from history. Check Settings Apps for the exact installed string before following older guides that still name the retired package.

Where VRR stores this, by platform

Android
/data/data/mentz.com.vrr_cibo_app

Private data for the current Mentz VRR package. Old MDV Bus&Bahn retired. Tickets restore via account login.

iOS
/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/<guid>/Documents

GUID container for the VRR app (App Store ID 1491339288). Same account pulls tickets back after reinstall.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move from the old VRR Bus&Bahn app?

Install the current VRR App eezy.nrw Ticket build and log in. Old Bus&Bahn data under the MDV package does not migrate; re download tickets from history.

Which VRR package do I have?

Current builds use mentz.com.vrr_cibo_app, while retired Bus and Bahn builds used com.mdv.VRRCompanion. Check Settings Apps for the exact ID on the phone before following older guides. Quoting the full string avoids mixing Mentz steps with retired MDV steps.
