Where Does WampServer Store Sites and Databases?
WampServer serves sites from the www folder and keeps MySQL data per version under bin. Install at the drive root, not Program Files.
Last updated
WampServer installs everything under one folder at the drive root, usually C:\wamp64. Your sites live in the www subfolder, which Apache treats as the document root. Virtual hosts point at subfolders of www or at paths you define in the extra vhosts config.
Databases sit versioned under bin, one data folder per MySQL or MariaDB release. That layout is why in place upgrades are discouraged. Export with phpMyAdmin, install the new stack beside the old one, then import. The tray menu restarts services after config edits.
Where WampServer stores this, by platform
C:\wamp64\www
Apache document root. Each project subfolder appears on the WampServer homepage until you declare it as a VirtualHost.
C:\wamp64\bin\mysql\mysql8.0.37\data
MySQL data for the installed version. The exact mysql5 or mysql8 folder name follows the version you run. Copying this between versions corrupts the target, so export instead.
C:\wamp64\bin\mariadb\mariadb10.6.12\data
MariaDB data when MariaDB is the active DBMS. Same version tie rule as MySQL above.
Frequently asked questions
Where is my WampServer www folder?
Look in the install folder for a www directory. Fresh installs use C:\wamp64\www. If you moved it, check the DocumentRoot line in httpd.conf and httpd-vhosts.conf.
How do I move databases to a new WampServer install?
Use phpMyAdmin or mysqldump to export first. Raw data folders only restore into the same MySQL or MariaDB version, so exports travel better across upgrades.
