Where Are Wayfinder Save Files Located?
Wayfinder saves per user ID under AppData Local Wayfinder Saved SaveGames, with config in WindowsNoEditor and huge logs beside them.
Last updated
Wayfinder's storage changed with its business model. The always-online era kept things server-side, but the Echoes relaunch brought paid solo play with genuine local saves. Current builds write WayfinderSave files per user ID under Saved SaveGames.
Two quirks deserve space. Config sits in WindowsNoEditor as Unreal tradition demands. Logs sit beside both and grow without shame past 10GB, so exclude them from every backup. Back up SaveGames with Config, ignore Logs, and the Zurich of your disk space returns.
Where Wayfinder stores this, by platform
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Wayfinder\Saved\SaveGames\<user-id>
WayfinderSave files inside a numeric user ID folder. Local and authoritative since the Echoes relaunch, with Steam Cloud on top. Copy with the game closed.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Wayfinder\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
Engine settings for the Windows build. The Logs sibling here can pass 10GB and is safe to empty when closed. Keep Config with SaveGames on every migration.
<SteamLibrary>/steamapps/compatdata/1171690/pfx/
Steam Play prefix for App ID 1171690. The Wayfinder Saved tree is mirrored inside the prefix drive. Same log-bloat behavior applies, so prune Logs on Deck too.
Frequently asked questions
How do I back up Wayfinder saves?
Copy %LOCALAPPDATA%\Wayfinder\Saved\SaveGames with the game closed, keeping the numeric user ID folder intact. Config in WindowsNoEditor travels with it. Skip the Logs sibling, which can exceed 10GB and carries nothing worth restoring.
Wayfinder is eating my disk. What do I delete?
Delete the contents of %LOCALAPPDATA%\Wayfinder\Saved\Logs when the game is closed. Those logs accumulate without bound and are safe to clear outside active debugging. Never delete SaveGames or Config in the same cleanup.
Are Wayfinder saves server-side?
They are local now. The original always-online design went away with the Echoes relaunch, which removed the online requirement for solo play. Current builds write WayfinderSave files locally with Steam Cloud cover, so the folders below are authoritative.
