Where Are Wreckfest 2 Save Files Located?
Wreckfest 2 save folder on Windows and Linux, tucked under a short WF2 directory name.
Last updated
Wreckfest 2 stores saves in Documents under My Games, following the first game's convention with a shorter folder name. The active files sit in a savegame subfolder, and Steam Cloud mirrors them for backup.
The folder name is the part people miss. It is WF2, not Wreckfest 2 or anything containing the full title, so searching the drive for the game name finds nothing. Linux players run the same layout through Proton with no native port involved.
Where Wreckfest 2 stores this, by platform
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\WF2\savegame
Paste the path into the Explorer address bar. Documents may live under OneDrive on some setups, in which case the same My Games\WF2\savegame trail appears inside the synced Documents instead.
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1203190/pfx
Proton folder for app ID 1203190. The virtual drive mirrors the Windows layout, so descend into drive_c\users\steamuser\Documents\My Games\WF2\savegame inside the pfx directory.
Frequently asked questions
how do i back up my wreckfest 2 progress
Copy the whole WF2 folder with the game closed. That captures career, garage and settings in one move. Restore by dropping it back into My Games on the target machine.
does wreckfest 2 sync saves to the cloud
Yes for local files through Steam Cloud, but the cloud copy can lag behind or conflict after a crash. Keep a manual copy of the savegame folder before long sessions, since cloud conflicts ask you to pick a side.
