Where Does WSJT-X Store Logs and Settings?

WSJT-X writes logs and settings to a WSJT-X folder in Local AppData on Windows and XDG paths on Linux. Open it from File menu.

Last updated

WSJT-X separates program files from writable data. The install dir holds the app (kept out of Program Files by recommendation). Logs, ADIF files, audio saves, and settings live in a user data folder the manual names per OS.

Multiple configs multiply the files. Each named rig configuration gets its own ini in the same folder, selectable with the config flag at launch. The log directory view in the app stays the reliable entry point across versions. Saved audio and LoTW files join logs in the same tree.

Where WSJT-X stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\WSJT-X

Logs, wsjtx.log, ADIF, wav saves, and settings. Hidden by default in Explorer. Install the app itself to C WSJTX instead.

Linux
/home/<username>/.config/WSJT-X/WSJT-X.ini

Per config settings on Linux. Named configs append their name to the ini. Launch with the config flag to pick one.

Linux
/home/<username>/.local/share/WSJT-X

Log data on Linux. Open from File, Open log directory to confirm the live path on your distro.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find the WSJT-X log folder?

Use File, Open log directory inside WSJT-X. That jumps to the live folder on any OS without memorizing the path.

How do I move WSJT-X to a new computer?

Copy the whole log folder to the same path on the new machine. It holds wsjtx.log, callsign data, and per config ini files together.
