Where Does Xshell Store Sessions?
Xshell keeps sessions, logs, keys, and color schemes in its User Data Folder, defaulting to Documents\NetSarang Computer.
Last updated
Xshell concentrates everything in one User Data Folder, which makes migration refreshingly mechanical. The Sessions subfolder holds connection files, Logs holds session transcripts, and sibling folders carry keys, scripts, color schemes, and highlight sets.
The default root sits in Documents rather than AppData, a NetSarang convention that surprises newcomers. Both the data root and the session folder are changeable from inside the app, so check Tools and Options before assuming defaults on a machine someone else configured.
Where Xshell stores this, by platform
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\NetSarang Computer\7\Xshell\Sessions
Session files live in the Sessions subfolder here. Change the root from Tools inside Xshell; the app reinitializes against the new location. Registry holds install info, not sessions.
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\NetSarang Computer\7\Xshell\Logs
Session transcripts and logs accumulate here by default. Disable or redirect logging per session when disk usage or privacy matters.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move sessions to another PC?
Copy the Sessions folder to the same relative spot on the new machine. Session files are portable; host keys in the same tree may need re-accepting on first connect, which is normal.
How do I relocate the whole data folder?
Use Tools, then Change User Data Folder inside Xshell. The app reinitializes against the new location and loads sessions and config from there on next start.
