Where Does Zoiper Store Config and Accounts?

Zoiper keeps accounts and options in Config.xml inside a Zoiper5 app-data folder, plus Provision.xml.

Last updated

Zoiper 5 stores its world in Config.xml: accounts, audio devices, automation, and call recording paths. The file lives in %APPDATA%\Zoiper5 on Windows and ~/.Zoiper5 on Linux. A missing file regenerates with defaults, which doubles as the nuclear reset.

Provisioning adds a second file, Provision.xml, resolved from the working directory, then the install folder, then the app-data dir. Do not confuse the two XML types: Config.xml is local state, Provision.xml is deployment instructions. The docs stress this because the names invite mix-ups.

Where Zoiper stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\Zoiper5\Config.xml

Config.xml with accounts and options; Provision.xml alongside for deployments. Call recordings default beneath this dir.

Linux
~/.Zoiper5/Config.xml

Same Config.xml role at home root. Provision.xml resolution order is identical across platforms.

Frequently asked questions

Where are the proxy settings? I cannot find them in the UI.

Edit Config.xml by hand. Proxy settings have no GUI in Zoiper; the official FAQ points at the same file for them. Keep a backup before hand-editing XML.

How does Zoiper provisioning pick up its file?

Create Provision.xml in the working directory, the install folder, or the app-data dir (checked in that order). On start Zoiper loads local Config.xml first, then overlays the provisioned document from your server.
