Where Does Zotify Store Config and Downloads?

Zotify config file paths and default music download folders on every desktop OS.

Last updated

Zotify splits state into a small JSON config and a music root. Credentials location, archive, temp dir and output template all live in the config. Audio lands under the music root.

macOS has a version wrinkle. Current builds use Application Support while older mirrors documented ~/.config. Check both spots when the config seems missing. Linux and Windows stayed consistent.

Where Zotify stores this, by platform

Windows
%AppData%\Zotify\config.json

JSON config with credentials, archive, temp dir and output template. Downloads default to ~/Music/Zotify Music with podcasts under ~/Music/Zotify Podcasts. Both roots are configurable.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/Zotify/config.json

Same config contents as other platforms. Older builds used ~/.config/zotify/config.json instead, so check there on upgraded machines.

Linux
~/.config/zotify/config.json

Same config contents as other platforms. Download roots default under ~/Music.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change the download folder?

Edit config.json and change the ROOT_PATH and podcast path entries, or pass the matching options at runtime. Existing downloads stay where they are. Only new fetches use the new root.

Where do downloads go by default?

The maintained fork documents ~/Music/Zotify Music and ~/Music/Zotify Podcasts as defaults. Older guides show different roots because forks diverged. Trust the config file on your own machine over any single guide.
