Where Are Android Alarms Stored?
Alarm database in private Clock storage on Android, and the backup that only sometimes carries them.
Last updated
Android alarms live in a private SQLite database (alarms.db with templates and instances tables) under the Clock app storage (/data/data/com.google.android.deskclock, AOSP com.android.deskclock). No file manager reaches it; root plus sqlite3 is the only direct route, with Clock force stopped first.
Everyone else moves alarms through Google Android Backup, restored at setup time, and even that carries inconsistently across devices (manual recreation threads abound; Titanium style copies fail on Clock). Calendar sync never carries alarms, so dawn critical wakeups deserve a second device or a non phone backup.
Where Android stores this, by platform
/data/data/com.google.android.deskclock/databases/alarms.db
Google Clock private SQLite (AOSP package com.android.deskclock). Root only, not browsable. Transfer via Google Backup restore at setup; coverage varies by OEM and version.
Frequently asked questions
How do I transfer Android alarms to a new phone?
Through Google Backup during setup; no export exists. Verify each alarm afterwards since restores skip silently, and keep a manual list for anything mission critical.
Can I read alarms.db without root?
No. Private app storage blocks every non root route. Manage alarms in the Clock app and rely on account backup for moves.
