Where Are Screen Recordings Stored on Android?
Android files screen recordings near screenshots but not with them, with the exact folder varying by vendor.
Last updated
Screen recordings sit beside screenshots in spirit but not in folder. Most vendors file them under DCIM or Movies in screen labeled folders, with exact names drifting between brands and versions.
The pattern beats the path here: look for Screen in folder names under both roots before assuming loss. Samsung, Pixel, and Xiaomi each picked different corners over the years. Files app search by video type finds them regardless of folder.

Vendor dependent: check this root plus Movies for screen labeled folders. Exact names drift by brand; search video type when lost.
Frequently asked questions
My recording is nowhere. Where else?
Check DCIM ScreenRecordings style folders first, then Movies, then Files app Recents. Vendors split between the two roots with no standard. Gallery apps index both once media scan completes.
Do recordings include audio?
Internal microphone, device audio, or silence depending on the recorder's toggle. System recorders ask before each capture. Third party apps vary, so test a short clip before recording anything important.
