Where Are Batman: Arkham Knight Save Files Located?

Arkham Knight keeps live saves in Steam userdata and automatic backups in Documents under WB Games.

Last updated

Batman: Arkham Knight splits saves two ways. The live files the game actually loads sit in Steam userdata for App ID 208650, as BAK1Save slot pairs in the remote folder. Automatic backup copies accumulate in Documents under WB Games\Batman Arkham Knight, inside a numbered Steam ID folder, down in SaveData\backup.

WB's own support documents the restore ritual because it is genuinely fiddly. Backup files carry timestamps in their names that the live folder does not accept. Copy them across, remove the timestamps, and seed the destination slot with a fresh new game first so the restore has a valid target.

Where Batman: Arkham Knight stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[SteamID3]\208650\remote

BAK1Save slot pairs plus profile.bin. Restore with Steam closed and the game sitting at its first menu, then relaunch to load the restored slot.

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\WB Games\Batman Arkham Knight\[SteamID]\SaveData\backup

Timestamped backup pairs per slot under a numbered Steam ID folder. Source material for restores; never edit these in place.

Frequently asked questions

How do I restore an Arkham Knight backup save?

Copy the timestamped backup pair over the live slot files in userdata 208650 remote, strip the timestamps from the names, and launch. Start the game to its first menu first, and seed the target slot with a new game so the files have something to replace.

Which files belong to which save slot?

Slots are file pairs: BAK1Save0x0 plus BAK1Save0x1 is slot one, BAK1Save1x0 plus 1x1 is slot two, and so on. Copy and rename both halves together or the slot reads as corrupt.
