Where Does the ARTE App Store Downloads and Favorites?

The ARTE app streams from its servers with favorites synced to an account and downloads in a private sandbox.

Last updated

ARTE is account-optional. Without login, favorites and downloads live only in the local sandbox. Signing in lifts favorites and progress to the account while downloads stay on the device.

That split decides what survives a reinstall. Logged-in users keep their lists; downloads always need re-fetching. Availability windows expire programs regardless of where they were saved. When in doubt, the account page shows exactly what is synced.

Where ARTE stores this, by platform

Android
/data/data/tv.arte.plus7

Private sandbox for downloads and local lists. Account sync covers favorites and progress. Downloads expire with program availability.

iOS
/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/<guid>/Documents

Sandboxed container with the same split. Sign in to keep lists across devices. Offline files play only inside the app.

Frequently asked questions

How do offline ARTE downloads work?

Use the download icon on supported programs and watch from the downloads section. Files stay inside the sandbox and expire after the availability window. They cannot be shared out.

How do I sync ARTE favorites between devices?

Create an account and sign in on both. Favorites and watch progress sync. Downloads stay per device and need fetching again on each one, since rights keep them device-bound.
