Where Are Assassin's Creed Shadows Save Files Located?
Assassin's Creed Shadows local saves and config on PC, for both the Ubisoft and Steam builds.
Last updated
On PC, Assassin's Creed Shadows keeps saves inside the Ubisoft Connect launcher folder: ...\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\[User-ID], with a different numbered subfolder per store build (8006 for Ubisoft, 1081 for Steam). Plain settings like language and audio sit apart in Documents\Assassin's Creed Shadows\ACShadows.ini.
Ubisoft Connect cloud sync covers the savegames folder, which causes the classic conflict: cloud state overwriting newer local files. If that happens, turn off cloud sync first, then restore your backup before launching again. A Mac build exists on the App Store, though its exact save path is not documented reliably enough to print.
Where Assassin's Creed Shadows stores this, by platform
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\[User-ID]
[User-ID] is your Ubisoft Connect account hash. The numbered folder inside (8006 for the Ubisoft build, 1081 for Steam, AppID 3159330) holds the actual saves. Config lives in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Assassin's Creed Shadows\ACShadows.ini. No native Linux build exists.
Frequently asked questions
Ubisoft Cloud overwrote my newer local save. How do I fix it?
Disable cloud sync in Ubisoft Connect settings first, then copy your backed up savegames\[User-ID] folder back and launch. If you launch with sync still on, the cloud copy wins again and the restore is wasted.
Does the Steam version use a different save folder than the Ubisoft version?
Same parent folder, different numbered subfolder: 1081 for Steam, 8006 for Ubisoft Connect. Progress does not move between them on its own, so check you are backing up the number matching your build.
