Where Does Bauh Store Config and Cache?

Bauh package manager YAML configs and database cache on Linux.

Last updated

Bauh (the GUI for Arch/AUR, AppImage, Flatpak, Snap, Debian and web apps) splits state three ways: per format YAML configs under ~/.config/bauh, database and suggestion caches under ~/.cache/bauh, and system overrides under /etc/bauh. Installed software itself lives wherever each format puts it.

Resetting is built in: bauh --reset wipes home cache and configs without touching installed apps. Ignored update lists, PKGBUILD caches and AUR indexes all regenerate on next launch. Back up the config tree to preserve format toggles and ignore lists.

Where Bauh stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.config/bauh (configs) plus ~/.cache/bauh (databases)

Per format YAML (arch, appimage, flatpak, web) with expiry and toggle settings; ignored updates in matching .txt files. Root runs mirror under /etc and /var/cache. Reset cleanly with bauh --reset.

Frequently asked questions

how do I reset Bauh settings

Run bauh --reset to remove home cache and config files, then relaunch to regenerate defaults. Installed applications are untouched; only Bauh preferences and indexes rebuild.

where does Bauh keep AUR build files

Under ~/.cache/bauh/arch with per package PKGBUILD caches in installed subfolders and a full AUR index. Clean from inside Bauh or delete cache folders with the app closed.
