Where Does BeReal Store Photos and Cache?

BeReal keeps its working data in scoped storage on Android and its app container on iOS, neither meant for browsing.

Last updated

BeReal photos live in the cloud behind your account. What sits on the phone is cache and working files inside the app's private storage, which Android and iOS both hide from file browsers by design.

That means there is no gallery folder to copy. To keep a photo, save it from inside the app before it expires. Digging through app data with root or a backup gets thumbnails and fragments, not your memories in full quality.

Where BeReal stores this, by platform

Android
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.bereal.ft

Scoped storage for the app, reachable through a file manager only in part. The private half at /data/data/com.bereal.ft needs root or an ADB backup. If the package name differs on your build, confirm it on the Play Store listing.

iOS
/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/<guid>/Library/Caches

Per install container path where the guid changes every install, so do not type it by hand. Use iPhone Storage settings to see BeReal's footprint, and export photos from inside the app.

Frequently asked questions

how do i save my bereal photos to my gallery

Open the photo in BeReal and use the save or share option to write it to your camera roll. There is no folder of full quality originals on the phone to copy instead.

why is bereal using so much storage

Cached images and video pile up in private storage. Clearing cache in the app settings or reinstalling shrinks it. Your posted BeReals stay on your account either way.

can i transfer bereal data to a new phone

Just log in. Everything meaningful syncs from your account. Local cache does not transfer and does not need to.
