Where Does Onyx BOOX Store Notes and Books?
BOOX keeps notes in internal storage note folders with local backups under backup local, plus Onyx Cloud sync per account.
Last updated
BOOX tablets run Android with Onyx apps on top. Handwritten notes live in internal storage note folders, with exports landing beside source files or in the default Note path. Library books scan from Books, Shop, WifiTransfer, and Push folders.
Backups split two ways. Local backup writes dated folders under note backup local for USB copies. Onyx Cloud syncs through your account with 10 GB free for background moves. Third party clouds attach through WebDAV and app bindings.
The note files read only after export. Raw stroke data stays app private until you export PDF, PNG, or .note. Export finished notebooks before storage fills, since e-ink devices hide their fullness well.

Frequently asked questions
How do I back up BOOX notes offline?
Use Notes backup to write the backup folder into internal storage, then copy that folder to a PC over USB. Restore by placing the folder back under note backup local and running restore from Notes options. Cloud sync through your Onyx account covers daily use instead.
How do I move BOOX notes to a new tablet?
Sign into the same Onyx account on the new tablet and let notes sync down, then check push.boox.com shows everything. Reading progress and annotations sync with the notes. Keep one offline backup before wiping the old device, since sync is convenient rather than archival.
