Where Does CapRover Store Apps and Config?

CapRover single persistence folder on Linux, plus subfolders for apps, config, and TLS certificates.

Last updated

CapRover keeps all state in one host folder. That folder is /captain, mounted into the manager container on every install. Apps, configs, and certificates all sit inside it, which makes backup math simple.

App data lives under /captain/data with one folder per app. Certificates and nginx configs sit beside them. The dashboard backup tars this tree with the admin password. Copy the folder with the service stopped for manual moves. The dashboard backup tars the same tree. App rebuilds reuse the same data folders.

Where CapRover stores this, by platform

Linux
/captain

Single persistence root for every CapRover install. Mounted as a Docker volume into the captain container. Back up whole folder with service stopped.

Linux
/captain/data

Per app persistent data with one folder per deployed app. Rebuilding an app reuses this folder. Include with /captain backups for full restore.
