Where Does Cloudron Store Apps and Backups?
Cloudron app data, platform data, and backup roots on Ubuntu servers, plus the dashboard backup path.
Last updated
Cloudron splits state between app data and platform data. App files live in /home/yellowtent/appsdata with one folder per app ID. Platform state with users, domains, and mail sits in /home/yellowtent/boxdata and platformdata.
Backups go to the provider configured in the dashboard, or /var/backups for local testing. Each backup bundles app files with database dumps. Copy the appsdata tree with box data for manual moves. App files without the platform database lose users and domains. Copy tarballs off the server.
Where Cloudron stores this, by platform
/home/yellowtent/appsdata
Per app file data with one folder per app ID. Owned by yellowtent. Back up with the platform database for consistent restores.
/var/backups (Cloudron local)
Local backup root when no S3 provider is set. Holds dated tarballs with app files and dumps. Copy tarballs off the server for safekeeping.
Frequently asked questions
what do i back up for a Cloudron move
Copy /home/yellowtent/appsdata with box dumps, or rely on built in backups to S3 or /var/backups. Each app gets a folder named by ID. The platform database in boxdata ties them together.
where is a single Cloudron app stored
Look in /home/yellowtent/appsdata with one folder per installed app ID. The folder holds the file data that the app sees. Databases for the same app sit in the platform Postgres beside it.
